Selma Blair says she once used alcohol to cope with MS pain in a talk taped before her arrest
In a podcast taped before her airport arrest, the actress says she leaned on alcohol for headaches and nerve pain from a young age and knows she cannot drink.

Selma Blair has opened up about leaning on alcohol to get through the pain of multiple sclerosis. She spoke in a podcast conversation that was recorded before her recent airport arrest.
Self-medicating from an early age
The actress sat down with Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg for a new episode of her podcast. Blair explained that she started reaching for a drink when she was very young to calm headaches, anxiety and nerve pain.
She said the habit turned into a slippery slope over time. Blair admitted she does not follow a strict "sober sober" life but said she knows drinking is off the table for her.
A note from the host
McCarthy Wahlberg shared the episode on Instagram with a disclaimer. She told fans the talk was taped before the recent events involving Blair and said she has nothing but love for her guest.
The arrest
The interview lands soon after Blair was arrested at an airport. Her team has blamed a medical emergency. Prosecutors filed two assault counts that accuse her of kicking a nurse along with a police officer. She has pleaded not guilty.
Blair looked much brighter on Friday. She was all smiles as she greeted fans at 90s Con in Connecticut.
