Editorial standards
- We explain and summarize public reporting and court records and official statements in our own words.
- Claims and allegations are attributed to the person or document making them. We say when no one has been charged or convicted.
- We aim to represent the full range of American communities fairly and to use accurate and respectful language.
- Photos are chosen to show the person or place the story is about. Images are never altered to change what they show.
- Every story shows when it was published. When we make a substantive update we change the modified time.
