A judge in New York has put a protective order in place that keeps Selma Blair away from the nurse she is accused of kicking while she was being treated after her airport arrest.

What the order covers

The temporary order protects Ashley DeLeo, the nurse who was caring for Blair at the hospital. Law enforcement sources say Blair now has to stay at least 100 yards from her.

Blair is also barred from reaching out to DeLeo by any means. Phone calls, texts, emails and every other kind of electronic message are off limits.

The order lasts a full year. It remains in force until October 11, 2027.

How the case got here

Police took Blair into custody Sunday night. Crew members on her Delta trip out of Los Angeles had reported a midair confrontation with her before the plane reached New York. Officers were waiting when it touched down and she was then brought to a hospital.

She is accused of striking DeLeo in the chest with her foot as the nurse tended to her there.

At her arraignment Monday night Blair entered a plea of not guilty to two felony assault counts. One count relates to the nurse. The other relates to a Port Authority police officer. She has not been convicted of any crime.

Her lawyer has pointed to missed doses of medication as the cause of what happened. A few hours before she was arrested the actress told her followers online that she was feeling down and was not doing well.
