Giannis Antetokounmpo is settling in nicely in Miami. He scored 31 points and posted his second triple-double of the season as the Heat opened NBA Cup play with a 145-125 win over the short-handed Indiana Pacers on Friday night.

Klay Thompson had his best night since joining the Heat with 25 points and seven 3-pointers. He is now 55 shy of tying former Heat guard Ray Allen for third on the NBA's career 3-point list.
Indiana down to 11
The Pacers had only 11 players available. Tyrese Haliburton is out for at least a couple of weeks with a hamstring strain. Obi Toppin's back went out before shootaround Friday morning.
Lloyd Pierce coached the team while Rick Carlisle attended his father's funeral in Ogdensburg, New York.
Indiana came out hot with 42 points in the first quarter. The Pacers managed just 46 in the next two quarters combined as Miami won the middle two periods 67-46.
Quenton Jackson scored 24 points and Andrew Nembhard had 22 for Indiana. Pelle Larsson scored 18 for Miami. Davion Mitchell added 15 points and 11 assists.
A tough road in the Cup
The loss puts Indiana in a hole in group play. Teams play four group games in the NBA Cup. Every team that has reached the knockout round in the event's four years has gone 4-0 or 3-1.
Indiana hosts Brooklyn on Sunday. Miami visits the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.
