John Collins scored 23 points and Paul Reed added 19 off the bench as the Detroit Pistons beat the Miami Heat 128-111 on Friday night in Miami.

Former Heat guard Duncan Robinson scored 17 against his old team and Cade Cunningham added 16. Detroit led from start to finish and is 2-0 for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

The win came with some worry. Ausar Thompson left in the third quarter after an awkward fall. Jalen Duren played just 10 first-half minutes before leaving with a right thigh issue. Both will be evaluated Saturday.

Giannis carries Miami

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 36 points and 12 rebounds for the Heat. Davion Mitchell scored 18 and Bobby Portis Jr. added 11 off the bench.

Miami has allowed 259 points through two games, the most in franchise history to start a season. The Heat are 0-2 for just the eighth time in their 39 seasons.

It is also the first time Antetokounmpo has played in his team's first two games and lost both.

A fast start for Detroit

The Pistons opened on a 17-2 run and led 65-53 at halftime. Bam Adebayo had no points and three fouls in seven first-half minutes. He finished with four points. Klay Thompson went 2 for 11 for six points.
