Giannis Antetokounmpo gets his first Heat win as Bam Adebayo passes Udonis Haslem for the team rebounding record
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 24 points and 18 rebounds in Miami's first win, 129-117 over Atlanta. Bam Adebayo became the Heat's career rebound leader.

The Miami Heat finally have their first win of the season. It came with a piece of franchise history. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 24 points and 18 rebounds Wednesday night as Miami beat the Atlanta Hawks 129-117.
Miami had dropped its first four games after acquiring Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee in the offseason. He now has 138 points in five games, the most by any Heat player in his first five games with the team. It was also the 118th game of his career with at least 20 points and 15 rebounds.
The night also belonged to Bam Adebayo. His nine rebounds pushed him past Udonis Haslem as the Heat's all-time leader. Adebayo now has 5,794 career rebounds. Haslem finished his 20-season Heat career with 5,791.
A record from a mentor
Haslem had held the mark since November 2012. He was Miami's longtime captain, a role Adebayo took over when Haslem retired. Adebayo said the moment was hard to describe.
"Man, I can't really put it into words," Adebayo said on the court after the game. "The person I'm passing has been so close to me throughout my 10 years in this career, from the time I walked in until now."
Coach Erik Spoelstra called it a special moment in the locker room. "He's done it with an iron will, a work ethic that's unmatched," Spoelstra said. "To be able to do it and break the record of his brother, UD, that's a really special moment."
Dominant inside
Miami shot 53% from the field and scored 70 points in the paint. The Heat made 15 of their 23 shots in the first quarter to take a 34-25 lead. They led 69-56 at halftime and pushed the margin to 18 late in the third quarter on a Tim Hardaway Jr. 3-pointer.
Andrew Wiggins scored 18 points and Pelle Larsson added 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Hardaway finished with 14 off the bench.
Keeping their spirit
Spoelstra said nobody in the locker room lost faith during the 0-4 start. "This one game is not all we're looking for," he said. "Obviously we're trying to build something much bigger than that. But you have to deal with what happens in this league and not compound it with losing your spirit."
