Bam Adebayo watched in street clothes. Giannis Antetokounmpo made sure the Miami Heat still looked ready for opening night.
Antetokounmpo finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds and 9 assists in a preseason-high 24 minutes as Miami beat the Brooklyn Nets 144-128 on Wednesday night at Kaseya Center. The Heat are 3-1 in the preseason.
Almost a triple-double
The two-time MVP shot 8 of 10 from the field and added a steal and three blocks. Miami outscored Brooklyn by 15 points with him on the floor. He had 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists by halftime and played into the third quarter for the first time this preseason.
He took a hard fall on a dunk attempt late in the first quarter but bounced up and stayed in the game. Later he threw a no-look alley-oop to Nick Richards who started at center for Adebayo.
Bam sits day to day
Adebayo missed his second straight exhibition with right groin tightness. Coach Erik Spoelstra said he is "not overly concerned" and called the big man day to day ahead of Friday's finale in Orlando and next Wednesday's opener against Minnesota.
Andrew Wiggins scored 19 points. Davion Mitchell had 13 before leaving briefly for six stitches above his eye and returning. Klay Thompson added 12. Rookie Ryan Conwell scored 13 and was plus-21. Michael Porter Jr. led Brooklyn with 27 points.
