His wife, Taylor, broke the news in an emotional Instagram post. She said he passed away on Monday, November 2, at 4:45 PM.
"I lost a whole entire half of me. He fought so hard for so long. He was so tired & exhausted & in so much pain," she wrote.
His final words
Taylor shared that Marcel barely spoke on his last full day. The few words he did say were meant for her and for Dedric.
"Yesterday the only words Marcel said all day were to me & Dedric and it was 'I'm ready to go' and that was in the morning. He still fought to hang on all day so we just got a bit more time," she wrote.
She admitted the loss still does not feel real to her. "I thought I was going to wake up and he was still going to be here beside me," she added.

For the next 15 months he posted openly about his treatment and his good and bad days. Fans online have been pouring out their grief since the news broke.
