Three growers explain small farms that started at home
An Upflip farm episode follows a garage hydroponic setup, a mushroom grow and a backyard plot. Each founder describes a start measured in dollars.

This Upflip episode is a set of three small farms, not one origin story. None of the growers describes a family spread they inherited.
Shannon turned a Florida garage into hydroponics after an outdoor garden kept failing. She says early tests grew into an operation she puts around $2.5 million. Sundown learned mushrooms from videos, put in about $5,000 and talks about roughly $200,000 a year now.
Charles started a backyard plot with a few dollars and says the same setup made him a consultant other people call during droughts. The three of them talk about first racks, first bags and first beds more than about degrees.
Setups you can point at
The conversation stays practical: where the first system sat, what failed and what they would buy again. It is a compilation, so each grower only gets a slice of the hour.
The revenue figures are each person's account of their own setup. The shared point is a farm that began in a garage, a video or a backyard.
