Jack Middleton grew up in London and came to the United States for college and tennis. Farm chores were not the plan when the first plan stalled.

Helping a family on about 20 acres in North Carolina turned into his own operation. He and his family started small, missed steps and kept the daily work anyway.

He says they now raise thousands of pasture chickens, hundreds of laying hens and a growing cattle herd, sold to families who want to know the farm. The year he describes is on the order of $250,000.

Sales as part of the chore list

The Upflip episode is about early mornings and about learning to sell. He talks through social posts and farm visits as the way the chicken business found customers.

The revenue figure is his. The start was a London kid on someone else's 20 acres.
