Shane Gillis slips an F-bomb into live 'SNL' sketch then says sorry
Shane Gillis let a curse word slip on live TV while hosting Saturday Night Live in a Dr. Seuss sketch. He apologized on air before the sketch ended.

Shane Gillis had a live TV oops moment while hosting "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. A curse word slipped out in the middle of a sketch and he ended up apologizing for it on air.
A Dr. Seuss sketch goes off script
Gillis played the son of the Cat in the Hat, with Mikey Day as his father. Andrew Dismukes played Sam I Am, who kept trying to get the Cat to eat green eggs with ham for breakfast.
Gillis stood up for his on-screen dad and told Sam to back off. When Dismukes kept pushing, Gillis fired back that the idea was a non-starter. The F-word came out before he could catch himself.
Caught on live TV
Gillis seemed to realize right away what he had said. He looked a little embarrassed and gave the audience a wave before slipping back into character.
Day did not let it go. As the scene wound down he mocked his on-screen son for the "bad word" before calling him a loser and kicking him out.
The censors did not bleep the word in time for the live broadcast. The show later shared the sketch online with the word removed.
Before the sketch wrapped Gillis offered a quick ad-libbed apology: "Sorry about earlier."
A long road back to Studio 8H
Gillis was hired as an "SNL" cast member in 2019 but was let go a few days later. Clips from his old podcast had surfaced showing him using anti-Asian slurs.
He has since hosted the show three times. This latest slip already seems to be behind him.
