Shakur Stevenson says his Devin Haney fight fell apart when Haney's lawyer demanded 147 pounds
Shakur Stevenson says Devin Haney agreed to 144 and then 145 pounds before his lawyer emailed that he would only fight at 147. Haney has not responded.

A Shakur Stevenson fight with Devin Haney looked close until, he says, one email ended it.
Stevenson posted on X on Friday that Haney's side first agreed to a catchweight of 144 pounds and then to 145. Then at the last minute Haney's lawyer wrote back that Haney would only fight at 147. Stevenson called the whole thing a "big waste of everybody's time."
Three pounds and a dead deal
The numbers matter. Stevenson holds the WBO and The Ring junior welterweight titles so both 144 and 145 were already above his normal division. The 147-pound limit is the welterweight weight class and would have meant moving up a full division for the fight.
That is Stevenson's version of events and so far it is the only one on the record. Haney and his camp have not publicly answered.
Where Stevenson goes next
Stevenson is one of the headliners of the growing Zuffa Boxing roster alongside Conor Benn and cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia. The promotion recently added WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames. No new opponent has been named for Stevenson.
