Indiana's 22-game winning streak is over. Ohio State made sure of it but paid a price.

The No. 4 Buckeyes held on for a 19-15 win over No. 5 Indiana on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. Indiana, the defending national champion, had not lost since 2024 and had won 19 straight at home. The win also gave Ohio State a measure of revenge for its loss to the Hoosiers in last December's Big Ten title game.

A fourth-down dagger

Ohio State led 13-7 early in the fourth quarter when coach Ryan Day kept his offense on the field on fourth-and-1. Julian Sayin threw deep for Jeremiah Smith and the star receiver came down with a 38-yard touchdown. The two-point try failed but the Buckeyes led 19-7.

Indiana answered fast. Josh Hoover, back in the game after a right arm injury, led a 75-yard drive capped by a 19-yard touchdown pass to Nick Marsh. He then found Turbo Richard for the two-point conversion to cut the lead to four with 10:30 left.

Sayin goes down

Sayin left a few minutes later with an injured right arm and freshman Luke Fahey finished the game. "I don't have a ton of details, but it looks like Julian will be out several weeks," Day said afterward.

Sayin completed 15 of 29 passes for 235 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. His other touchdown was a 2-yard pass to Bo Jackson with seven seconds left in the first half.

Inches from a comeback

Indiana got one last chance and drove to the Ohio State 27. On fourth down with 1:02 to go, a wide-open Marsh caught Hoover's pass near the front corner of the end zone but his left foot came down on the white paint. The Buckeyes ran out the clock.

"That was our blitz check," Indiana coach Curt Cignetti said. "We had it, we just didn't make it happen. This one is a tough one to swallow."

Hoover threw for 296 yards and a touchdown. Charlie Becker caught nine passes for 165 yards. But Indiana lost two fumbles in the third quarter after going 1,487 snaps since the start of the 2025 season without losing one. It was Cignetti's first home loss in three seasons and it came in the first top-five game ever played at Memorial Stadium.

What's next

Both teams are 6-1. Ohio State has a bye week before visiting No. 19 USC on Oct. 31. Indiana plays at Michigan next weekend.
