Dallas needed a second-half surge and got it from its young core.

Cooper Flagg scored 21 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists and P.J. Washington poured in a season-high 26 as the Mavericks beat the Utah Jazz 112-100 on Friday night in Emirates NBA Cup group play at American Airlines Center.

Kyrie Irving added 14 points after a cold start. The Mavericks improved in Cup play while Utah fell to 1-8 after its seventh straight loss.

Washington sets the table

Flagg had six rebounds and six assists in a quiet first half then scored 17 after the break. Irving started 1 of 11 from the field and still finished with 12 of his 14 points after halftime.

The run that decided it
