Martha Stewart tells Craig Melvin on Today that the chocolate spill costume story was a joke
On Today Martha Stewart told Craig Melvin her chocolate-spill costume tale was a joke apologized again and said her grandson called the look tone deaf.

Martha Stewart faced Craig Melvin on Today Friday after days of shifting stories about her homeless woman Halloween costume.
Melvin pressed her on the conflicting versions. She said she was only joking when she claimed his chocolate spill forced her into the outfit.
Walking into the studio earlier she told reporters she had already spoken with Melvin and that he was fine with her. She also claimed she had not received hate mail over the backlash.
On air she said she had not planned a costume before a weekend party. Her grandson saw a private photo and called the look tone deaf. "It was just stupid I apologized" she said.
"I was not making fun of anybody or making light of the great problems that face our country" she added.
When Melvin stressed that spilling chocolate on her sweater had nothing to do with the costume she agreed. "It wasn't your fault" she told him. He said they had already settled the issue privately.
She pledged to watch social issues more carefully from now on. The clarification follows an Orlando speech that first tied Melvin to the costume switch and an earlier statement that framed the outfit as homelessness awareness.
