Charity Martha Stewart cited after her Halloween costume uproar says homeless aid is not part of its mission
God's Love We Deliver says it provides medically tailored meals to people with serious illness and does not serve the homeless after Martha Stewart cited it.

Martha Stewart's defense of her Halloween costume has hit a new snag. A charity she pointed to while explaining herself says helping homeless people is not what it does.
The nonprofit put out a statement to clear things up. "God's Love provides free medically tailored meals to people with life-altering chronic illnesses. It does not serve people experiencing homelessness," the spokesperson said.
The group did confirm that Martha came to its yearly gala this year. It described her as a loyal backer of what it does. Aiding the homeless is just not part of the mission it lays out.
How this started
The statement lands in the middle of the backlash over Martha's costume. She dressed up as a homeless person and held a sign that read "I AM HUNGRY HELP ME!"
She shared the look in an Instagram post that also plugged her QVC candles. That post has since been taken down.
At first Martha stood by the costume. She said it was meant to raise awareness about homelessness and she cited her years of charity work aimed at the problem.
She later issued an apology and admitted the costume was insensitive.
Clearing up the confusion
The charity's statement does not mean Martha has never backed other groups that work on homelessness. The organization simply wants people to understand what its own mission is.
