Martha Stewart scrubs a Halloween photo of herself dressed as someone begging for food
Martha Stewart pulled an Instagram photo of her Halloween costume, a ragged person holding an 'I am hungry' sign, after critics called it out of touch.

Martha Stewart's latest Halloween look did not go over well. The lifestyle star posted a costume photo, removed it soon after and still could not stop the criticism.
The costume
In the photo she is dressed in ripped clothes with smudges of dirt on her face. She holds a clipboard with a handwritten plea: "I AM HUNGRY HELP ME!"
The image was reportedly one slide in an Instagram post meant to sell the candles she offers on QVC. "My QVC candles are perfect for Halloween!!!" the caption read.
The backlash
The post came down quickly. By then some followers had already saved screenshots.
Those images spread on Reddit. Many commenters there called the costume "out of touch," "offensive" and "gross." Several pointed to her fortune, which is estimated at about $400 million.
A representative for Stewart has not responded to a request for comment.
