Police report says Lucian Piane spit at hotel workers before his arrest
A police report says Lucian Piane spit at Embassy Suites staff, smoked in the lobby and threw water before his arrest, hours before he was killed.

New details from a police report paint a chaotic picture of Lucian Piane's final evening before his death.
Trouble at the front desk
Staff at an Embassy Suites called Glendale police around 6:30 PM Sunday when Piane allegedly would not leave the hotel. The caller said he was tossing things at the front desk and smoking inside the lobby.
Minutes later the situation got worse. The caller told police Piane spit at the front desk as well as at the caller. He then allegedly splashed water all over the place.
The report says guests were among the people in the lobby. At one point Piane was reportedly sitting on the floor. Officers got there around 6:35 PM and detained him soon after.
Earlier accounts
Law enforcement sources had already said Piane was arrested after allegedly accusing the hotel manager of running a prostitution ring and hurling a water bottle at him.
Those sources said he seemed manic and rambled but cooperated with officers. He told police he was a Hollywood writer and said he had not taken drugs.
Hours later
Piane was arrested for assault around 6:45 PM and booked at 7:42 PM. He was cited and released at 11:49 PM.
About five hours after he walked out of jail, he was hit and killed by a vehicle in Glendale. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled his death an accident caused by blunt force trauma.
Piane had marked more than a year of sobriety only 2 months earlier. On Saturday Glendale police had cited him for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was due in court Monday.
He was best known as a songwriter and producer on "RuPaul's Drag Race," where he sometimes served as a judge.
