The car that crashed and killed influencer James Wehr and Lexi Kramer has gone up in flames once again, according to police.

What police say

The Irvine Police Department said Saturday that the front of the vehicle "spontaneously ignited" while it sat at a secured tow lot in Costa Mesa. The lot holds wrecked vehicles from collisions the department is investigating.

Footage of the fire shows a few sparks at first. The flames grow into a full blaze while smoke fills the garage until the camera can no longer see anything.

Police said the crash, the car breaking apart and the first fire left its frame as well as its wiring badly damaged. That damage may have helped spark the new flames.

Firefighters in Costa Mesa are investigating what started it. Arson is not suspected.

The crash

Wehr died last month in Irvine, California, when his McLaren slammed into a tree. Video of the wreck showed the car crossing wet pavement.

Police say Wehr was the driver. He hit the brakes but the car swerved right into the tree before erupting in a fireball.

Wehr and Kramer were apparently romantically involved. Her family says he was not honest with her about where his marriage to his wife, Emma, stood.

Emma has hired an accident attorney since his death.
