LaMelo Ball scores 24 as the Timberwolves rout the Clippers for their first win without Anthony Edwards
LaMelo Ball scored a season-high 24 and Jaden McDaniels added 23 as Minnesota beat the Clippers 127-101 for its first win since Edwards' knee surgery.

The Minnesota Timberwolves finally found their footing without Anthony Edwards. LaMelo Ball scored a season-high 24 points and Jaden McDaniels added 23 as the Wolves beat the Los Angeles Clippers 127-101 in NBA Cup group play Friday night in Minneapolis.
Bones Hyland chipped in 19 points and eight assists off the bench for Minnesota, which improved to 4-2.
Edwards is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery. A new exam after Monday's 127-125 overtime loss at Cleveland showed he needed the procedure. The Wolves looked lost in a 119-114 loss to Golden State on Wednesday.
A big fourth quarter
Ball took over late. He hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as Minnesota went on a 20-2 run to pull away. All four of the Wolves' wins this season have come by more than 20 points.
McDaniels was 11 of 15 from the floor with seven assists and six rebounds. Backup guard Jaylen Clark gave him a break guarding Darius Garland and helped force five turnovers by the Clippers star. Clark finished plus-23 in 17 minutes.
Clippers keep sliding
Garland scored 24 points on 10-of-22 shooting for Los Angeles. Brook Lopez added 13 points off the bench.
The Clippers fell to 1-4 with their fourth straight loss. They are still without newcomers Brandon Ingram and Max Strus because of foot injuries. Rookie Keaton Wagler had 12 points on 2-of-11 shooting.
Minnesota plays at San Antonio on Saturday. The Clippers visit Golden State on Sunday.
