Kristi Noem faces claims she put out a homemade statement dressed up as State Department news
Kristi Noem faces claims she wrote her own exit statement on altered State Department paper after leaving an envoy job. Insiders say it was never official.

Kristi Noem is facing a fresh round of questions in Washington. This time the trouble centers on a statement that was supposed to explain her latest job change.
A statement that wasn't official
According to reports, Noem is accused of creating her own announcement and placing it on State Department letterhead that had been altered. The goal was to explain why she was no longer serving as the Special Envoy to the Shield of the Americas.
That role came after she was let go as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
The statement claimed the envoy job "was always a six-month appointment" and said she "remains at the State Department as a Senior Advisor."
What sources are saying
People inside the State Department say the release was never an official one. They also say the letterhead it appeared on was fabricated.
So far neither Noem nor the State Department has responded to requests for comment on the claims.
