Kacey Musgraves fires back at Kristi Noem over James Talarico jab
Kristi Noem praised Ella Langley over Kacey Musgraves while backing Ken Paxton. Musgraves answered with a jab that nodded to Noem and a dog named Cricket.
Kacey Musgraves answered a jab from Kristi Noem that mixed a Texas Senate race with a country-music preference.
How the exchange started
Noem, the former Homeland Security secretary, posted in support of Republican Ken Paxton over Democrat James Talarico. She wrote that she would take Ella Langley over Musgraves any day and that if she were choosing for Texas she would take Paxton over Talarico. The post noted that Talarico had appeared at Musgraves' Dallas show.
Musgraves' reply
Musgraves replied that she did not think Noem had a dog in the fight but that if she did she would have shot it. The line pointed to Noem's widely reported account of shooting her 14-month-old dog Cricket after calling the animal untrainable.
Musgraves and Langley each have tour dates ahead while the Texas Senate race still has weeks left on the calendar.
