Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos squeezed 60 Halloween costumes into one hour and admit they had no idea what half of them were
Spider-Man, a stick of butter, a Savannah Banana and Toy Story: Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos set a Live record with 60 Halloween looks in a single hour.

Most people struggle to pick one Halloween costume. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos wore 60 of them before lunch on Friday.
The married co-hosts went all in for this year's holiday special, which the show billed as Live's Halloween Shockin' Eve. It was the biggest wardrobe marathon in the program's long history of Halloween episodes. The pair promised viewers characters from movies, TV, sports and every trend that took over their phones this year. Then they spent the next hour trying to keep up with themselves.
Things opened with a superhero bit. Ripa suited up as the reluctant hero Yelena and Consuelos swung through Manhattan as Spider-Man while their former co-host Ryan Seacrest watched from the sidewalk below. A few minutes later they strutted onto the set to a Lady Gaga song dressed as Gaga and Bad Bunny on the halftime stage.
Butter, bananas and a man in a hazmat suit
The pace never really slowed. A fake trailer for a horror sequel cast Consuelos as a squishy stress toy and a dumpling-shaped fidget ball. The couple then turned up as the stars of this summer's big Greek epic, though Ripa confessed on air that they were not totally sure who they were supposed to be.
One sketch spoofed a hit reality competition with host Alan Cumming and Andy Cohen dropping in. Ripa revived her impression of disgraced tech founder Elizabeth Holmes while Consuelos threw on a long wig to play dancer Mark Ballas. Later she became a giant stick of butter and he became a Savannah Banana.
Then Jerry O'Connell walked out in a yellow hazmat suit holding a bag of greens. He introduced himself as poop lettuce, a nod to this summer's salad scare. The studio audience lost it. Lisa Rinna also stopped by dressed as Kylie Jenner in a bright orange red carpet look with executive producer Michael Gelman playing her famous date.
The confession that made fans laugh
Before the episode the hosts were refreshingly honest about how much of it went over their heads. Consuelos said that as they get older they simply do not know what is going on anymore. Ripa estimated that they spent about 90 percent of the tapings yelling a single question at the crew: what are we?
She explained that the commercial breaks are never long enough for the actual costume changes. Hair, makeup and wardrobe teams swarm the set between segments to pull it off. Ripa also had a note on her Holmes voice, saying the real woman was a lot easier to imitate a few years ago.
Gelman said the planning never stops. His team starts on next year's show on November 1, the day after the last one airs. They keep collecting pop culture moments right up to the final minute.
A Godzilla wins a cruise
Kal Penn returned to help judge the audience costume contest. The finalists included a woman dressed as a giant hand and a fan wearing an oversized Guess Who game board. The top prize went to a towering Godzilla who could barely move inside the suit. The reward was a $15,000 Disney cruise and Ripa joked that the winner was clearly very excited under all that rubber.
The hour wrapped with Ripa, Consuelos, Gelman and the show's DJ dressed as characters from the newest Toy Story movie. It was costume number 60 and probably the only one everybody on stage recognized right away.
