Sheinelle Jones is 4-foot-11 and just nailed a Rockettes kick line and fans want her in the Christmas show
TODAY co-host Sheinelle Jones swapped the anchor desk for a green and gold Rockettes costume and kept every high kick in line on Halloween morning.

Sheinelle Jones has danced as Tina Turner, Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Janet Jackson on past Halloween mornings. This year she picked a challenge that even she called the hardest one yet. She became a Radio City Rockette.
The reveal came Friday on TODAY, which built its Halloween show around 100 years of NBC history. An announcer welcomed the world famous dance troupe to the stage. As the line of dancers parted, there in the middle was Jones in a sparkling green and gold fringe dress.
She did not just stand there and wave. She moved in step with the professionals and when the signature kick line arrived she matched them leg for leg. The crowd on the plaza roared as every kick landed on the beat.
The shortest Rockette on the line
There was one detail viewers could not stop pointing out. Jones stands 4-foot-11. Rockettes usually measure somewhere between 5-foot-5 and about 5-foot-10, so the dancers beside her towered over the co-host. It did not matter. Her kicks reached right up with theirs.
Fans flooded the comments with a simple request. Several people said she should be cast in the Christmas Spectacular right away and one gave the routine a perfect ten. Another joked that the only thing standing between Sheinelle and Radio City Music Hall was her height. A self-described fellow short girl cheered that she stayed right in line on every kick.
Back to seventh grade
Jones admitted the costume took serious work. She said she quit ballet back in the seventh grade and the Rockettes style is precise and close to ballet. That made it the most technically difficult thing she has ever tried on the show.
She said the Rockettes make it look easy and that is the magic of the whole act. Her goal was to make her seventh-grade self proud. She also said she felt like she was dancing for every regular woman who has a little dance left in her and wonders what it would be like to join the line for a day.
Full of praise for the pros
On her own show later that morning Jones called the experience really fun and gave all the credit to the dancers around her. She described them as true athletes with incredible core strength and kicks. Just joining them for one day, she said, was amazing.
She was not the only one in costume. Her co-host Jenna Bush Hager went as Phoebe from Friends and the rest of the morning crew dressed as everyone from Gumby to Johnny Carson. But the kick line is the clip fans kept replaying. It is easy to see why.
