New York Giants coach John Harbaugh is not shy about picking up the phone.

Harbaugh said Monday that he called Tennessee Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk about star defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. He left her a voice message.

Simmons was traded to the Chicago Bears on Thursday for multiple first-round picks.

'Turning over every stone'

"I did, I did," Harbaugh said. "I left a message because you're turning over every stone, going to try everything."

"I mean, I'll put it out there, man," he added. "We're open for any call. Anybody who wants to call us or call anybody, call."

He also joked that there must be a song like that. "Call me, is it like that? Who sings that?"

'No secret society oath'

Harbaugh said people in the Giants front office make calls at every level. That is how they get information and how trades get done.

"We're not part of any secret society oath that says you can only talk to somebody," he said. "We didn't get memo'd on that."

What the Giants want

The interior of the defensive line is a need for New York. The team has also shown interest in Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor.

Running back has been a sore spot. Cam Skattebo has a hamstring injury, while Tyrone Tracy Jr. recently went on injured reserve with a hamstring issue.

Veteran tackle Andrew Thomas said the players are on board. "It's a players' league," he said. "Anytime you have an opportunity to acquire whoever the player may be, the thought is that they'll help our team win."

Short on picks

General manager Joe Schoen has said any move must make sense for the short term and long term. Harbaugh agreed.

The Giants have just five picks in the 2027 draft, so Harbaugh said they must be "smart shoppers." They would rather trade 2028 picks if they can.

"Yeah, it's easier to put it on the credit card," Harbaugh said with a laugh.

The trade deadline is Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. Central. Coming off their bye, the Giants face the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders in a span of four days.
