Cheyenne Tyler Berry was washing dishes when the sidewalk show started. An older man walked past with a tiny dog that suddenly locked onto something on the neighbor's low brick wall.

The something was George an orange tabby who had claimed the wall like a porch throne. The dog vibrated with hello energy. Most walkers would have tugged the leash and kept moving.

This walker did the opposite. He scooped up his pup and gently lifted him over the bricks so the two animals could meet face to face.

Paw to paw

George stayed calm for a cat interrupted mid-shift. The pair sniffed traded a paw and acted like they had been waiting for a proper introduction all week.

Berry filmed from the kitchen window and later said she could not stop smiling. The clip spread because nothing dramatic happened. A person simply made room for a tiny friendship.

Soft neighborhood math

Viral pet videos often chase stunts. This one is basically courtesy with fur. A wall that usually separates species became a handshake table for thirty seconds.

If your block has a resident cat on a ledge the lesson is clear. Sometimes the kindest thing a dog parent can do is pause the walk and help the greeting happen at eye level.
