The Kansas City Chiefs have signed kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad, according to reports from NFL Network and ESPN. Tucker is a five-time All-Pro who has not kicked in an NFL game since 2024.

Tucker was one of three kickers who worked out for the Chiefs on Tuesday. Harrison Mevis and Ben Sauls also tried out.

He is expected to serve as insurance for Harrison Butker. Butker has been a fixture on Kansas City's three Super Bowl title teams but has missed five of 16 field goal tries this season. That includes two misses in Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

A long road back

Tucker, who turns 37 next month, did not play last season. He served a 10-game NFL suspension in 2025 for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

The suspension followed a February 2025 report by The Baltimore Banner in which 16 massage therapists accused him of sexual misconduct between 2012 and 2016. Tucker has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. He called the allegations "unequivocally false."

The Ravens released him in May 2025. That ended a 13-year run in Baltimore that included seven Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl win in his rookie season.

What it means for Kansas City

Tucker had the worst season of his career in 2024, making 22 of 30 field goals. Before that he was one of the most accurate kickers in league history.

For now he gives the Chiefs a proven option if Butker's slump continues.
