Cheyenne Brown runs Fun Diggity with her mom from a home walk-up in South Central Los Angeles. Most people see the funnel cake. She talks about the prep that happens before the window opens.
It started with a small tent, borrowed tables and sales outside the house. She learned the recipe in a college apartment during midterms, when she wanted the fair food and did not have it.
Delivery apps and neighbors now share the day. She says the business, begun with about $700, helped the family move on from Section 8 housing and brings in on the order of $400,000 a year.
A day at the walk-up
The Upflip episode follows a normal day: ingredients, the setup, app orders and the people who treat the house like a stand. She is specific about keeping the cake the same every time.
The yearly figure is hers. The start was a craving in a college apartment and a tent out front.
