Carrie Coon has come up with a practical way to look after her fellow cast members on "The Gilded Age." She has been giving the women on the HBO drama special neck rests designed around the show's enormous period hats and detailed wigs.

A gadget for costume days

Coon talked about the gift while passing through LAX on Friday. She pulled out one of the rests to demonstrate. The product is called the Cranial Cradle. The device lets the actresses lie back without squashing the elaborate pieces perched on their heads.

She is clearly a convert. Coon said the cradle also comes in handy on airplanes and even works when you lean back against a wall.

A jab at airline seats

Coon also took a playful swipe at the airlines. She pointed out that plane seats are designed with men in mind, adding that the same goes for nearly everything else.

Fans who want one of their own can find it online, she said. Coon joked that she had just given the company a free commercial.

The women of "The Gilded Age" may finally get a break from all that weight on their necks.
