Carl Dean's niece now runs his estate after Dolly Parton died before finishing the job
Before her death Dolly Parton had not wrapped up the estate of her husband Carl Dean. A court has now put his niece in charge of his affairs.

A member of Carl Dean's family is now in charge of his estate. Dolly Parton had been handling it herself until her own death.
A niece steps in
According to court filings a judge has put Dean's niece Dea Chaggin Cunningham Williams in charge of his money and property.
Parton took on that role after Dean died on March 3, 2025. The process was never wrapped up because she was coping with health problems of her own.
Dean was 82 when he passed. Parton died of cancer on August 25, roughly a year and a half after her husband. She was 80.
Who inherits
Dean's will gave everything to Parton. It also covered the case where she died first. In that event his property would be divided among his five nieces and nephews along with Parton's 14 nieces and nephews.
A familiar name on the list
One of those heirs is Parton's nephew Bryan Seaver. He is currently locked in an ugly legal fight with the singer's longtime manager.
