The Milwaukee Brewers are going to the World Series.

Milwaukee fell behind 4-0 early and stormed back to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 at Dodger Stadium on Thursday night. The win finished a four-game sweep of the National League Championship Series and sends the Brewers to the Fall Classic for the first time since 1982. It is the club's first National League pennant, since Milwaukee was still in the American League on its only other trip 44 years ago.

An early hole

The Dodgers struck for four runs in the second inning. Andy Pages drove in the first run with a single and Shohei Ohtani followed with a 428-foot three-run homer to right-center field.

Milwaukee answered in the fourth when Jake Bauers lined a two-run ground-rule double to right. In the fifth David Hamilton singled in a run and Bauers drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 4. There were no big blasts in the comeback, just walks, stolen bases and timely hits.

Mitchell and Hamilton go deep

Garrett Mitchell put the Brewers ahead for good with a solo homer to center off Tanner Scott in the sixth. Hamilton added a solo shot to right-center against Edwin Díaz in the ninth for insurance. Bauers finished with three RBIs and Hamilton had two hits.

The bullpen slams the door

Once Milwaukee had the lead, manager Pat Murphy turned it over to his bullpen. JoJo Romero struck out three in two scoreless innings and got the win. Aaron Ashby worked out of trouble in the seventh and eighth and pitched the final three innings without allowing a run for the save. The last out came when Kiké Hernández lined out to Jackson Chourio in left and the Brewers poured onto the field for a group hug.

Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow retired the first nine batters he faced and struck out six but was charged with all four Milwaukee runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Payback and history

A year ago the Dodgers swept the Brewers in the NLCS on the way to a title. This is the first time in postseason history that a team has swept an opponent that swept it the season before. The loss also ends the Dodgers' bid for a third straight championship.

What's next

The Brewers will face the winner of the American League Championship Series, where Cleveland leads Tampa Bay 2-1. The World Series begins Oct. 23 in Milwaukee, the first Fall Classic game ever played at American Family Field.
