The Milwaukee Brewers came to Los Angeles needing to steal one game. They have now taken all three and stand one win away from the World Series.

Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the seventh inning as the Brewers beat the Dodgers 6-2 on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium. Milwaukee leads the National League Championship Series 3-0 and can clinch its first pennant since 1982 on Thursday.

A quiet stadium from the first pitch

Jackson Chourio set the tone right away. He drove Blake Snell's very first pitch of the night over the wall in right-center for a 1-0 lead. Snell settled in after that and struck out nine through five innings while allowing just one other hit.

Los Angeles finally broke through in the sixth. Milwaukee reliever Abner Uribe walked the bases loaded and Will Smith lined a two-run double off the wall in left to put the Dodgers ahead 2-1. Reliever DL Hall then struck out Kiké Hernández and Tommy Edman to strand two more runners in scoring position.

Eleven pitches that changed the series

The lead lasted only minutes. Snell walked Andrew Vaughn to open the seventh. Bauers battled through a long at-bat and crushed the 11th pitch for a go-ahead two-run homer. Two pitches later Mitchell went deep too and manager Dave Roberts went to his bullpen.

Brice Turang scored on a wild pitch in the eighth and Milwaukee added another run in the ninth. Closer Trevor Megill finished it off.

History is against Los Angeles

Only one team in baseball history has come back from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series. That was the 2004 Boston Red Sox. Shohei Ohtani batted sixth and walked in the big sixth inning but the Dodgers' offense has struggled all series.

Game 4 is Thursday in Los Angeles. First pitch was moved up an hour to 7 p.m. Central after the American League Championship Series game in Cleveland shifted to the afternoon because of rain in the forecast.
