Auburn stuns No. 1 Georgia 27-24 on a field goal as time expires in Athens
Alex McPherson hit a 34-yard field goal as time ran out and Byrum Brown ran for 115 yards as unranked Auburn upset No. 1 Georgia 27-24 at Sanford Stadium.

For the second Saturday in a row the No. 1 team in college football lost to an unranked opponent.
Alex McPherson kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired and Auburn upset No. 1 Georgia 27-24 on Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens. A crowd of 93,033 watched Auburn players swarm the field.
The final minute
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton led a 13-play drive that covered 94 yards to tie the game. He capped it with a 4-yard touchdown pass to London Humphreys with 2:58 left.
The Bulldogs got the ball back and were driving for a go-ahead field goal. Stockton ran from the Auburn 46 and fumbled with 58 seconds left. Safety Sylvester Smith-Reed recovered for Auburn. A roughing-the-passer penalty on Georgia's Gabe Harris Jr. helped set up the winning kick.
Brown wears them down
Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown ran 26 times for 115 yards and a touchdown. The 235-pound Brown also threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Chas Nimrod. Jeremiah Cobb added a steady second option in the backfield.
Georgia jumped to a 14-0 lead on its first two drives even after Stockton left after the first play when he hit the turf helmet first. Backup Ryan Puglisi completed all three of his passes before Dwight Phillips Jr. scored on a 15-yard run. Stockton came back and threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to tight end Lawson Luckie.
Then Auburn scored 24 straight points. Christian Neptune threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Keshaun Singleton. Brown found Nimrod and McPherson hit a 49-yard field goal before halftime. Brown ran in from 5 yards out early in the third quarter for a 24-14 lead.
Streaks snapped
Stockton threw two interceptions, which doubled his total for the season. Georgia tailback Nate Frazier returned from a rib injury but ran for just 19 yards on nine carries. The Bulldogs were also flagged for three personal fouls.
The loss ended Georgia's nine-game winning streak over Auburn and its run of 53 straight wins over unranked teams. Top-ranked teams had won 93 straight home games against unranked opponents since late 2007.
What's next
Auburn (4-2) hosts LSU next Saturday. Georgia (6-1) has an off week before it faces Florida on Oct. 31 in Atlanta.
