Washington snaps its skid at Purdue and Tulane forces six turnovers to upset Memphis on Friday night
Elijah Brown threw for 302 yards in his first Washington start in a 38-26 win at Purdue while Tulane forced six turnovers to beat Memphis 31-17.

Friday night college football delivered a breakthrough in the Big Ten and an upset in New Orleans.
Washington finally wins in the Big Ten
Washington beat Purdue 38-26 on a rainy night at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. The win ended a three-game losing streak and gave the Huskies (4-3, 1-3 Big Ten) their first conference victory of the season heading into their bye week.
They did it the hard way. Washington turned the ball over five times and was missing five running backs to injuries and illness.
Quarterback Elijah Brown, a Stanford transfer, made his first start for the Huskies. His opening pass of the night was intercepted and he threw three interceptions in all. He also completed 21 of 27 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns. Chris Lawson caught six passes for 103 yards. Trey Cooley ran eight times for 113 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown run that made it 38-26. Brian Bonner Jr. scored twice and Jeron Jones added a late interception.
Purdue (4-3, 2-2) had its two-game winning streak snapped.
Tulane's defense takes over
Tulane pulled off the biggest win of coach Will Hall's tenure by beating Memphis 31-17 at Yulman Stadium. The Green Wave defense forced six turnovers with three fumble recoveries and three interceptions of Memphis quarterback Marcus Stokes.
Freshman quarterback Trace Johnson hit Destyn Hill for a 38-yard touchdown late in the second quarter to give Tulane its first lead at 13-10. TJ Smith then picked off Stokes and returned it 76 yards for a touchdown as the first half ended. Johnnie Daniels sealed it with a 48-yard touchdown run with under two minutes left.
Tulane improved to 3-3 and 1-1 in conference play. Memphis fell to 5-2. The Green Wave visit UTSA next Saturday.
App State rallies at Coastal
Appalachian State came back to beat Coastal Carolina 35-32 in Conway, South Carolina. Jaquari Lewis ran for four touchdowns on 13 carries for 85 yards as the Mountaineers moved to 4-2 and 1-1 in the Sun Belt.
