Valentin Vacherot drops the first set then storms back to beat Jiri Lehecka for the Swiss Indoors title in Basel
Monaco's Valentin Vacherot beat Jiri Lehecka 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to win the Swiss Indoors in Basel, his first title since his stunning Shanghai run a year ago.

Valentin Vacherot has done it again. A year after his stunning run to the Shanghai Masters title, the player from Monaco won the Swiss Indoors in Basel on Sunday.
Vacherot beat Jiri Lehecka 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 after a rough first set. It is the second title of his career. He has now won both finals he has played.
The 27-year-old came into the week ranked 31st. The title is expected to lift him to No. 27.
A slow start
Lehecka looked like the better player early. The eighth seed broke Vacherot three times in the first set and took it 6-2.
Vacherot won only 38% of his service points in that set. Then everything changed.
He broke for a 3-1 lead in the second set and saved every break point he faced from there. He took the set 6-3.
Vacherot broke again in the first game of the third set. Lehecka had one more chance at 2-3 but Vacherot erased it with a big serve. He broke once more to close out the match.
"For a long time I felt like I was playing against a machine," Lehecka said. "I was frustrated, but the moment he broke me to 3-1 in the second set, it was a completely different match."
Back on track
It has been a hard year for Vacherot. Injuries cost him much of the clay season and forced him to miss Wimbledon. His ranking slid from the top 15 to No. 32 after he lost early in Shanghai.
In Basel he beat Rafael Jodar, Holger Rune and Taylor Fritz before the final. He topped Fritz 7-6 (5), 6-3 in Saturday's semifinal.
Lehecka has now lost three finals this year, to Jannik Sinner in Miami and Carlos Alcaraz in Tokyo before Sunday. He will still climb to No. 15 in the rankings.
