Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe are distant cousins, genealogy study finds
MyHeritage says the actress and the screen legend are ninth cousins once removed, linked through a 17th-century Massachusetts settler.

The Marilyn Monroe comparisons that follow Sydney Sweeney now have a family tree behind them.
A new study by the genealogy company MyHeritage found that the "Euphoria" star and the late Hollywood icon are ninth cousins, once removed.
A shared ancestor
According to MyHeritage, the link runs through their fathers. Sweeney's father is Steven Sweeney. Monroe's father was Charles Stanley Gifford. Both men descend from Ezra Perry, an early settler of Sandwich, Massachusetts, who died in 1689.
Not the first Hollywood match
MyHeritage has turned up famous connections before. The company previously reported that "Friends" co-stars Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox were distant cousins.
Sweeney has often been compared to Monroe for her classic Hollywood style and the new finding is sure to keep those comparisons going.
