Dylan Sprouse went digging into his family history and came back with a story he could not keep to himself.

What he found

On Tuesday's episode of his "Wildmen" podcast, the former Disney star said he recently learned that his mother's and father's families had already married into each other generations before his parents met.

Dylan said the first marriage between the two clans took place in California near the end of the 19th century. They then drifted apart, only to reconnect without knowing it when his parents wed.

Cole wanted no part of it

Dylan said he called his twin brother right away and even sent him pictures as proof. Cole was not interested. Dylan said his brother refused to look, closed the message and hung up.

A family full of twins

The discovery came out of a look at the twins in his family. Dylan said both sides have a history of them, including seven sets on his mother's side across four generations.

He kept it light. Dylan joked that at least he does not have webbed toes. His summary: "Long story short, Cole and I are children of incest."

Cole responds

A day later Cole pushed back on how the media covered his brother's remarks. On his Instagram Stories he posted a headline built around Dylan's comments and wrote that no amount of media training could prepare someone to read a clickbait headline at 10 in the morning.

Their parents, Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright, married in 1990. They divorced while the twins were still toddlers.
