Six Flags Over Georgia guest says she first mistook the falling Goliath rider for a bag

Britny Landry says she saw someone fly off the Goliath coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia and only realized it was a person as she walked toward the woods.

A park guest who was close to the Goliath coaster when a rider came off it says her mind simply would not accept what she had just watched.

A shape over the trees

Britny Landry says she spotted what seemed to be a human figure sail off the ride and vanish into the trees beside the park.

Her first reaction was to talk herself out of it. She told herself it had to be a bag or some other object that only resembled a human shape.

That hope faded as she walked toward the trees where he came down. Once she got close she understood it really was a man.

Landry says the scene was even harder to take because she and her family had ridden Goliath themselves only a short time before.

Riders saw it too

People who were on the coaster at the time have also spoken about the fall. One of them, Logan Conner, said the man seemed to float sideways into the air. Conner said riders were looking right into his eyes as it happened.

He hit the track more than once on the way down and came to rest atop a nearby haunted house attraction. He did not survive. Several other riders were hurt.

Crews stopped the ride and walked the remaining passengers off. Six Flags has since pulled similar coasters out of service at a number of its parks as a precaution.
