Scottish police open inquiries into Epstein's trips to Balmoral with ex-Prince Andrew
Police Scotland has active inquiries into Jeffrey Epstein's visits to Balmoral Castle, where former Prince Andrew had invited him. Andrew denies wrongdoing.

The former Prince Andrew is facing one more police investigation. This one centers on Jeffrey Epstein's time at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands.
Police Scotland has confirmed it is looking into Epstein's visits to the 50,000-acre royal estate, which now belongs to King Charles and was long a favorite getaway of Queen Elizabeth. Andrew was the one who invited Epstein there. The late financier is accused of bringing women and girls to Balmoral as part of his sex trafficking.
What Police Scotland said
A spokesperson for the force said, "We have received information and active inquiries are ongoing but these are at a very early stage."
The spokesperson added that its inquiries are "evidence-led" and put "the needs of victim survivors at the heart" of the work. The force said it would not confirm details of ongoing enquiries and that further comment would be "inappropriate."
Photos released by the U.S. Department of Justice show both Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at Balmoral on several occasions over the years.
A second police probe in England
Thames Valley Police are running their own investigation. Officers have set up interviews with relatives of Virginia Giuffre, including her brother Sky Roberts plus his wife Amanda Roberts.
Giuffre accused Andrew of having sex with her several times, beginning when she was 17. She died by suicide in 2025.
Thames Valley investigators are also looking at a 2002 incident at Royal Ascot in which Andrew allegedly had an encounter with a woman.
Stripped of his title
King Charles took away his brother's royal title. In February Andrew was arrested on suspicion of passing confidential trade reports to Epstein 16 years earlier.
He has never been charged with a crime. He denies all wrongdoing.
