Cornell student told police Chi Phi members asked her to keep quiet about the alleged assault
According to records obtained by ABC News, the student said members called the encounter consensual and worried it would hurt the fraternity's image.

A Cornell University student told campus investigators that members of the Chi Phi fraternity tried to keep her from talking about what happened to Jane Doe, according to ABC News.
The student said fraternity members described the October 2024 encounter to her as consensual and asked her not to spread the story around campus because it would be bad for their image, according to the report.
Talk of a meeting
The student also reportedly told police she had heard the fraternity held a meeting so members would tell the same story. When officers asked, one member who was not involved denied there were special meetings, but said the subject had come up at a regular weekly chapter meeting.
The investigation
Earlier footage showed two other members telling officers they had heard the encounter was consensual, which an investigator questioned at the time. No one was charged in 2024.
Jane Doe's civil lawsuit accuses seven former members of drugging and sexually assaulting her, allegations the men deny. New York Attorney General Letitia James is now leading a renewed criminal investigation.
