Orphaned baby kangaroos snuggle in laundry baskets and melt the internet
Orphaned joeys at an Alice Springs kangaroo sanctuary snuggle in laundry baskets lined with pillowcase pouches in a clip with over 1.4 million views.

Forget fancy cribs. At an Australian kangaroo sanctuary the softest nursery on Earth is a row of laundry baskets lined with pillowcases and packed with orphaned joeys.
Basket buddies
A video from the Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs shows baby kangaroos snuggled together in twos and threes. Each joey has its own pillowcase pouch that mimics the warmth of a mother's pouch. The camera introduces them one by one including Barnaby, Astrid, Jackie, Bella, Jules, Jodie, TJ, Bamba, Tim Tam, Josh, Sparky and Kumana.
The sanctuary says the orphans thrive when they share warmth, breath and heartbeat the way they would beside a mum. The clip has passed 1.4 million views and more than 183,000 likes.
From jellybean to fuzzy celebrity
A newborn kangaroo is about the size of a jellybean. Joeys spend months in a pouch before they are ready to peek out. These orphans lost that start but caretakers rebuilt it with soft fabric and company.
The 188-acre sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates joeys with the goal of returning them to the wild when they can. Animals that cannot go back still get a forever home on the property.
Internet wants a delivery order
Viewers were not subtle. "I'll take one basket please," one person wrote. Another asked for a bushel. A third wondered whether the sanctuary delivers. Someone else joked that running a baby kangaroo orphanage never came up on career day.
One commenter called it the cutest thing they had ever seen. Hard to argue when a laundry basket full of sleepy joeys is on the menu.
Soft landing
The world can feel loud. A few minutes of pouch-puppies in pillowcases is a quiet reminder that care looks like warmth company and a second chance. Laundry day never looked this sweet.
