Onyeka Okongwu turned in his best game of the season and the Atlanta Hawks held off the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-111 on Thursday night.

It also ended Cleveland's three-game winning streak. The Cavaliers dropped to 3-2.

Another slow start

The Hawks fell behind by 15 points in the first quarter. It was the fourth game in a row that Atlanta trailed by at least 15. Its 16 first-quarter points were its lowest total for any period this season.

Atlanta answered with a 19-2 run in the second quarter. That burst turned a 35-24 deficit into a 43-37 lead.

Tense finish

Donovan Mitchell cut the lead to one with a driving layup with 20.6 seconds left. Nickeil Alexander-Walker made two free throws with 15.3 seconds left to push it back to three.

Mitchell had two chances to tie the game on the final possession but missed both.

Alexander-Walker finished with 25 points. Aaron Wiggins added 20 off the bench on 8-of-14 shooting. James Harden led Cleveland with 24 points and Mitchell scored 22.

The game capped a big night at State Farm Arena. Earlier the Atlanta Dream beat the Golden State Valkyries 80-69 in Game 6 of the WNBA Finals in the same building.
