Most grooms worry about the ring. Andrew Shelek spent his outdoor ceremony in Dennison, Ohio, batting honeybees away from his bride's hands and dress so she could finish her vows.

Andrew and Savannah Shelek got married on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Glass on Enchanted Acres. When they toured the venue a year earlier they never noticed bees so they did not expect a swarm to share the aisle. Savannah later said the insects were an issue the whole time.

About six or more bees circled the couple during the ceremony. Photographer Allison Glotfelty said they landed on the bouquets and the bride's dress and kept buzzing around the altar. She pulled out her phone when Andrew started clearing them away.

Protector mode

The clip shows Andrew calmly brushing bees off Savannah's hands while she tries to stay in the moment. One bee got into her sleeve and stung her. Andrew pulled it out and tossed it aside without breaking stride.

Savannah was not surprised. She said her husband has been her protector since they started dating in high school. Glotfelty captioned the video with a line about finding a man who will protect you from so many bees at your wedding.

Good luck and nine million views

In some traditions honeybees at a wedding are a good omen for partnership and harmony. The couple was less sentimental in the moment especially after the sting but they stayed calm and finished the ceremony.

Savannah and Glotfelty posted the video on Wednesday, Nov. 4. By the next day it had passed nine million views. Savannah said she was shocked it reached so many people and excited that their wedding day now has a story nobody will forget.
