Former trust manager says Nick Reiner already got nearly $350K for Alan Jackson
Court papers from Nick Reiner's former trust manager say about $348K went to Alan Jackson's fees before the lawyer left the murder case.

Nick Reiner is fighting the people who run his trust in court. His former trustee says the complaint that money has been withheld ignores a large payment already made for his defense lawyer.
What the filing claims
According to court papers reviewed in coverage of the dispute, Paul Kanin, who previously controlled the trust, says roughly $348,000 was approved for Nick's benefit. The money covered work by high-profile attorney Alan Jackson over about two weeks in December 2025.
That stretch ended before Jackson left the case. Nick has been trying to bring Jackson back and says he needs trust money to do it.
Neglect claim pushed back
Kanin argues that Nick's talk of "neglect and failure to administer" skips over that substantial payment. In his telling, complaints about being shortchanged do not match what was already spent on the defense.
Nick has sued Kanin and the current administrator. He alleges they have improperly held back funds he is entitled to.
The criminal case
Los Angeles prosecutors charged Nick with murdering his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Reiner, after they were found dead at home on December 14, 2025. He has not been convicted. The trust lawsuit is a civil dispute about inheritance access while the criminal case proceeds.
