Nebraska has made a change on offense.

Coach Matt Rhule fired offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen on Saturday, one day after a 24-13 loss at Illinois extended the Cornhuskers' Big Ten losing streak to four games. Co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas will take over play calling.

"Like so many of you I am angry, I am disappointed and I am frustrated with our results this season," Rhule said in a statement. "Our offensive plan and execution is simply not working."

From 5-0 to four straight losses

Nebraska opened the season 5-0. The Huskers then lost to Indiana 20-17, Oregon 17-14 and Washington 17-10 despite leading each game entering the fourth quarter.

They have averaged 13.5 points during the skid. Against Illinois they piled up 426 yards but scored only 13 points.

Holgorsen's run ends

Holgorsen, the former head coach at Houston and West Virginia, was in his third season running the Nebraska offense. He arrived for the final four games of 2024 before signing a two-year deal worth $1.2 million a year.

Rhule praised Holgorsen but said he will keep evaluating the program and make more changes "where I believe they will help us win."

Nebraska visits Rutgers next Saturday before closing Big Ten play against No. 12 Ohio State and No. 19 Iowa.
