Parents of baby Rumi ask a judge to end surrogate McKenna West's custody fight
Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed want McKenna West's lawsuit dismissed and accuse the surrogate of using media attention to raise money.

The California couple whose baby boy was carried by surrogate McKenna West wants a judge to shut down her legal fight for good.
A request for finality
Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed say West promised to drop her case but never did. They claim she is still pursuing custody of the child, whom they named Rumi.
The couple points out that courts in several states have already turned her away. They want the lawsuit thrown out so their family is not tied up in years of litigation.
Claims about money
Gilkar and Ahmed also accuse West of signing on with special interest groups that gave her funding and lawyers. They say she then launched a media push to bring in donations.
Those accusations come from the couple's filing and have not been tested in court.
How the dispute began
The parents had wanted to end the pregnancy after learning the baby would be born with a birth defect. West instead traveled to Texas and delivered him there without their consent.
Rumi now lives with Gilkar and Ahmed and is getting medical care in California. The couple says West has not seen the boy since the birth.
