Matt Damon reveals wife Luciana had brain surgery the week before the 2024 Oscars
Matt Damon says his wife Luciana Barroso had surgery for a brain aneurysm one week before the 2024 Oscars yet still insisted they go to the after-party.

Matt Damon is opening up about a frightening stretch his family kept private in early 2024.
In a new magazine cover interview the actor said his wife Luciana Barroso was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm and went under the knife roughly seven days ahead of that year's Academy Awards. "We had this whole scary thing happen where my wife had a brain aneurysm. She's totally fine, thank God, but [she] had this brain surgery the week before the Oscars," he said.
Damon said the recovery took a turn he did not expect. Rather than rest at home Luciana picked out a gown and told him they were heading to the post-show celebration because he had skipped it the previous time.
A heroic night out
"And she was like, 'This time, we're going out.' And it was pretty f***ing heroic of her to do that and really meaningful," the star of "The Odyssey" recalled.
The couple did make it to the Vanity Fair bash that night. Luciana wore black while Damon went with a classic tuxedo.
Damon stressed that Luciana has made a full recovery.
