Los Angeles' notorious Fairfax "trash house" is piled high with debris again
New photos show garbage, furniture and boxes spilling toward the sidewalk and neighbors say bugs are swarming the property.

The Fairfax District home known around Los Angeles as the "trash house" is buried in junk once more.
New photos show the front yard crowded with bags, litter, old furniture, boxes and other debris, with piles appearing to spread toward the sidewalk. People in the area say flying insects now swarm the property as the trash builds up.
A long-running problem
The house became infamous after city crews hauled away about seven tons of debris in April 2024, citing health and safety concerns. The conditions have returned more than once since then.
A friend of the 72-year-old owner has previously defended him, saying he is a recycler rather than a hoarder and that the bags hold items he sells to recycling centers.
City response
Mayor Karen Bass said last year that it was disappointing to see the property deteriorate again and called it a health and safety hazard. She also said at the time that there was an open criminal case involving the owner. The city had not announced any new cleanup as of Wednesday.
