Kyle Davey was a physical therapist when a corporate buyout made the job look temporary. He kept training clients, bought a carpet-cleaning franchise and tested vending on the side.

Nineteen months later he says the vending side does about $40,000 a month across about 25 machines, from older cash units to newer ones, with a team of three.

It broke once. In a two-week stretch he lost every employee across the businesses. Machines sat empty while carpet jobs were still booked. That week is when he says he had to build systems instead of covering every stop himself.

A few hundred dollars for the first machine

On Upflip he walks through financing the first machine with a few hundred dollars and the stops that taught him what actually sells.

The monthly figure is his. The route started as a side test beside a job he no longer trusted.
