Kim Kardashian has surgery on her esophagus, the same problem her late dad faced
Kim Kardashian says doctors found esophagitis plus irregularities in her esophagus that had to be cut out, a scare tied to her late dad's cancer.
Kim Kardashian just shared a health scare that hit very close to home.
On her family's reality show, Kim said she had been feeling "a little off." Her throat was "killing me," so she went to see a doctor.
The doctor told her he suspected some inflammation of the esophagus. His word for it was esophagitis. He put her on medication and set up a procedure to take a closer look.
Why it scared her
Kim's father Robert Kardashian died of esophageal cancer in 2003. She said the diagnosis "really hits home for me."
Going under the knife
Kim's operation is teased in a sneak peek of the coming episode.
In a voiceover she explains what doctors found. She says her esophagus had irregularities that needed to be cut out. She adds that it is the same thing her dad had.
The good news
The clip ends on a hopeful note. By all signs the procedure went well.
